Since it wasn’t ugly enough, the east side of the berm was painted green and is now being covered in burlap (again!) Anyone know what’s going on?

  • miriamcb

I would have done the walking tour on the 22nd, but the St. Jude’s Give Thanks walk is on the same day at Cadman Plaza and I think I won’t be back by 11am (I think it walks across the brooklyn bridge). I guess I’ll catch the next one!

Does anyone own a Nespresso espresso machine? Do you think it is a good machine?

  • JaneonOrange

I do and I love, love, love it.

  • Eddyde

Why don’t you take a walk down there and ask them?

  • Heights

Any idea when the construction related material will be removed from Montague/Clinton now that the Montague Street tunnel has been repaired?

  • Remsen Street Dweller

People I know at work, love it, too.

  • Lori

What’s happening at the “abandoned” house at 194 Columbia Hts? Surely, they can’t be washing the windows. It needs a lot more work than that!

    194 Columbia Hts

  • GHB

    Because I’m at work.

  • Middagh_Girl

Did anyone else have a hard time sleeping last night? My husband and I heard a lot of noise from 10 p.m. last night until about 2 a.m. this morning. I think it might have been related to the Americans’ shooting happening near the fruit streets.

But on your next walk you can ask.

  • WOW

I would love a tour of the innside of that place – have been curious for years!

Radio Shack tip…the newly refurbished RS on Court St. is good for smartphones. Best part is the person named “Maneeka”. Be sure to ask for her. Tell her that “Look What the Cat Dragged In” sent you for special treatment.

  • CHatter

Yes, it’s excellent. Makes proper espresso. I also like the Hi Line capsules for it (the Nespresso ones are a bit better, but more expensive).

  • GHB

On my next walk, the workers will be gone. And I hate to yell from the Promenade first thing in the morning!

  • CassieVonMontague

A shot in the dark: the green stuff is was seed/nutrient mixture and the burlap is winter protection.

  • GHB

    Thanks! Makes sense.

What to do.. there is an alarm clock that goes off starting around 7:30 and stays on till around 9. I live on Willow Street in a building that faces the backyards of some of the houses on Hicks street.. The alarm sounds like it is coming from across, but since sound travels it is hard to tell.

  • DIBS

Had one in the office and it made great espresso with a really nice crema. There’s a new model out for just $99 now

  • David on Middagh

Middagh_Girl, I had assumed I was hearing a water pump for the Cranberry lot excavation, but maybe the filmers were active as you suggest.

  • Montague Street Dad

Taperia is definitely on the way down, right? Projection TV kills the atmosphere and staff seem disinterested to bring the not-bad food. I wanted this to work but I think I set my expectations too high on this one. Back to Sociale and Henry Public then.

Actually, it was covered with green canvas which extends down the side onto the relatively flat parts. I’ve been spreading the rumor that it’s the world’s largest chia-pet.

  • Andrew Porter

The MTA removed all the construction stuff from the Montague Street stub next to Furman Street, so maybe Montage at Clinton is next. OTOH, the site has a Porta-Potty, one of the few public conveniences in BH.

  • Andrew Porter

I heard something too. I assumed it was the air conditioning unit for the Eastern Athletic Club, but the sound was gone, as you said, by about 2am.

In decades past, before the ivy on the Promenade side covered it over, there was an incredible full-length stained glass window visible. Someone does occasional maintenance on 194, as note the plywood-covered windows on the Promenade side. There’s been lots of discussion of 194 CH over the years, and a search of the BHB archives will bring it up.

I discovered they also carry Apple merchandise, including iPads and Mac accessories.

  • Jorale-man

I’d be afraid the floors would cave in while walking in there. It’s probably got all kinds of structural issues. There’s been speculation on here about when the whole house is going to need to be demolished. Rather sad…

  • grrr

Dear BHB, can you do some investigative reporting and find out what the heck is happening with the sidewalk at 92 Remsen Street?

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

Can I do upgrades there or do I still have to go to either the Apple store or Verizon?
