Subway Service Alerts: Brooklyn Heights and Vicinity

“F” may be Kathleen Edwards’ favorite letter, but this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, October 31 (trick or treat night!) to 5:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, Manhattan bound F trains will be diverted to the A/C line between Jay Street/Metro Tech and West 4th Street. This means no Manhattan bound service at York Street, so to get to Manhattan from DUMBO you’ll have to walk uphill to High Street or catch a Brooklyn bound F at York to Jay and change there for a Manhattan bound F, A, or C. To get to the Lower East Side stops on the F, you’ll have to go to West 4th and catch a Brooklyn bound F there back to the skipped stop.

Also this weekend, for what seems like the gazillionth time, if you’re traveling into Brooklyn, be aware that, from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5:00 a.m. Monday, the 2, 3, and 4 trains going in that direction won’t be stopping at Bergen Street, Grand Army Plaza, or Eastern Parkway. To get to these stations, you’ll need to ride to Franklin Avenue and catch a Manhattan bound train back to the skipped station. This will continue each night through the following week (Monday, November 3 to Friday, November 7) from 11:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. On these same nights, R trains will stop running at 10:00 p.m. instead of the usual 11:00, but N trains will follow the R route and provide alternate service at Court Street and Jay Street.

For planned service changes that may affect travel on other parts of the system, either during the weekend or the following week, see MTA Info or The Weekender.
