Brooklyn Heights Dad Outraged Over Man Who Urinated in Front of His Home and Kids

Well, if this dispatch from a BHB reader is true, we’ve reached a new low in Brooklyn Heights. Sure, any of us who grew up in New York City back in the 70s would just call this incident “Tuesday”. But this is 2014 and this is pretty outrageous.

Read on:

Our nanny was leaving our garden apartment at about 10am this morning with our 3-year old and 6-month old girls. She opened our front door to find this man (photo attached), with trousers dropped and coffee cup in hand, using our little front porch area as his bathroom. It’s the second time she found this same guy urinating on our home while she was watching our little girls. In broad daylight.

I’ll be filing a report with the 84th precinct later today. But we know they have higher priorities than chasing this sort of thing down.

It seems like maybe this guy lives or works in the neighborhood, or might pass through on a routine basis. It’s tough to make him out in the picture, but he’s wearing a distinctive T-shirt and perhaps it’s from a local business.

Yes, grey hair, Henry. And a very…distinctive voice. Pickled.

  • Quinn Raymond

I totally support this kind of local journalism.

Also has anyone else noticed the bottles of urine that drivers leave on the curb? I’d like to catch those guys too.

  • Eddyde

I didn’t say it’s “okay” only that he isn’t guilty of some sex crime simply because a couple of kids saw him taking a leak.

  • cindy sm

No, he is NOT involved is that activity.
He has access to the peas & Pickel ‘ s
Employee facilities. But the existance of a constant crowd of creeps there
    Who mix their medications with
Beer (which P & P gladly sells them)
    And booze then they “unburden”
    Themselves wherever they can
Sends a BIG message to all the other
    Less reasonable types that public
    Urinating/exposing yourself to
    Passersby is ok.and never punished

  • Brixtony

I live right across Pineapple Walk from P & P and have never seen this behavior you describe. I have an active dog and am there as pedestrian or customer probably 5-10 times a day. Creeps: where?

  • petercow

One of the following will do the trick:

    1) German Shepherd

    2) Pepper Spray

    3) Louisville Slugger

  • petercow

BTW – is this what is known as “yellow journalism”?

  • someone

Well I have seen him before he was sitting in a wheelchair peeing right at the wall of Christede’s across from P&P. I also have seen him doing that at the pay phone booth at Micheal Towns some time back.

  • hicksup

    “journalism”

  • MonroeOrange

I would expect nothing less…you throw garbage on innocent doormen and now you pee on people’s stoops…not surprised.

  • MonroeOrange

if this is the second time this happened in broad daylight, by the same individual, then he must have an issue with the person living there. Seems odd, that someone would use the same house twice by coincidence.

and yes…my money is still on Mr. Crusty (Joe A), even though he claims he only pees on my stoop. But the very fact that he admits to peeing on my stoop would make it likely he is peeing elsewhere…shame on you Mr. Crusty, stop peeing and throwing garbage on people.

  • MonroeOrange

Without ‘Lou the electrician’ this neighborhood would not be the same. He has lived here five times as long as most of you, leave him alone and don’t accuse him without proof.

  • cindy sm

Ok I don’t know your viewing location
But I and others have viewed the “action” in back or the sides of the store but far more often they go to close by
Streets doorways or just inside the
Park. What; we need sloshed creeps
With their pants down? Let me get
    This straight, you’re disputing there
A nightly crowd mixing their medica tions with sizable amounts of beer
& booze outside or very nearby
Peas & pickles? And no enforcement
Ever happens? The BHA is totally
Insensitive. Well again, guess what a strong message that sends to other creeps? I’m an typical woman why
Should I or children have to see
    Anything like this?

  • cindy sm

There was a LOT of this “behavior” in and around the St George arcade a decade ago
TILL there was a series of loud protests at BHA sponsored meetings AND at the 84 pct
    Monthly community council meetings..Then
There was enforcement and the activity
Went WAY down. Which is precisely what
    Is now needed guess.

  • Brixtony

To clarify: I am in the “alley” several times a day often with a dog who is very on guard about creatures of any species who act strangely. I have never seen anyone peeing or any crowd having a beer and drug soaked party . Yes, I’ve seen people peeing in the park, but very infrequently and again – I’m there a lot at all times of the day.

  • MonroeOrange

try 3-4 decades ago…and the two aren’t related issues…the arcade was filled with homeless, this looks to be a personal vendetta…the homeowner was probably against citibikes and Joe A was upset so he took matters into his own hand (literally).

  • MonroeOrange

cindy…your statements are so exaggerated its ridiculous…im at Peas and Pickles daily and cut through the alley often, rarely do i see Lou or any of the other people peeing in the streets…you probably are seeing the St. George lot in the dorms.

  • MonroeOrange

also anyone else notice he is holding a coffee cup…if this person is making a habit out of this, he obviously is doing it purposefully…or wouldn’t he use the bathroom where he got the coffee from?

  • MonroeOrange

‘Peeing man’s side of story’ = ” i had to pee!”

  • MonroeOrange

    bit over dramatic i think…

  • cindy sm

Who needs this behavior anywhere in
The area? The real lesson here is that
Like the St George arcade, this behavior will ONLY be stopped when enough area
Residents create enough of a howl at
Public meetings and in the press that
There IS effective enforcement and the general body of creeps in the area get the message NOT IN THIS AREA!

  • cindy sm

As above, I said to my knowledge, the
Individual you mentioned is NOT involved. But there is a late night
Group of creeps who hang either
Outside peas & Pickel or they buy
Their beer there and drink in the park. But say that they are not involved
In public urination in the area is
To ignore what has occurred in the last few years. They do move their “action”
    When infrequently there is enforcement
But the recurring condition simply and certainty DOES Send a strong message that you can get away with public
    Intox behavior and urination.

  • CoffeeDrinker

Mark. Thanks for the idea. I’m looking into the easiest way to do it. Aside from possibly catching or at least deterring this guy, I’m curious (nervous?) to see what else we might capture.

  • MonroeOrange

the kids in the park at night are from the dorms…i see them when i walk my dog….also, its nyc people drink and pee in public get used to it.

  • MonroeOrange

or the taxi that hit him didn’t stop at the stop sign as he should have…but you can blame the drunk if that makes you feel better.

  • MonroeOrange

well from your decription it sound like a nice, secluded place to pee…you just may have opened a can of worms or pee!

  • CoffeeDrinker

    Yes, State Street. Good eye.

  • Joe A

Yes, we DEMAND more pee police. This is the Heights after all.

  • Joe A

Only on your stoop MO. I don’t categorize you as “people”.

  • Joe A

You sure that wasn’t Monroe Orange? Long incoherent comments seem to be his specialty.
