Has anyone else notice the unusual odor by St. Francis towards the Clinton St. end of Remsen?

  • CassieVonMontague

What’s your favorite quick bite in the Heights?

  • DIBS

A slice from Fascati’s and a quart of hot and sour soup ($3.35) from Fortune House. But not togerther.

  • CassieVonMontague

    A few of mine:
    -Falafel sandwich at Damascus
    -Hanco’s vietnamese sandwiches
-Fascati or My Little Pizzaria–whichever is closer

  • MiniCooper

Smells like festering garbage. I’ve noticed it for several days — not every day, but most of them.

  • Monty

Been there for weeks. I’ve noticed it on Montague and Clinton as well. Something sewer-related I’m guessing.

What’s the deal with the closure of Squibb Park? There has been speculation about the foot bridge needing repair, but then why is the park closed too? PS8 is opening tomorrow and their yard is still a construction zone. Are the kids not going to be able to play outside?

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

Question. Have you tried them together, or just assuming.

(if you answer a certain way..I have so many questions for you!)

  • DIBS

    Like I said, not together.

  • CassieVonMontague

SE corner of Montague and Clinton is disgusting. It’s the only place in the Heights where I regularly see rats. The back lot is still a makeshift dump.

  • BrooklynBugle

We have a request for comment out to the BBP folks to see if it’s still just due to construction or something else. DEVELOPING…

  • Paper Horder

Is there any place in the neighborhood where I can take old paperwork for shredding?

  • August West

I was told that in the 1990’s at some point Clinton Street traffic went south toward Cobble Hill. Does anyone remember that? I do not recall a different traffic pattern.

  • Monty

    Tazza. Either one.

  • David on Middagh

There are shredding events every year, usually added on to a larger happening, in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. (Not sure when the next one is.)

  • atom

Really love the chicken quesadilla at El Gallito on Montague Street.

  • AEB

Shredding events, David? May one bring one’s garments to rent?

  • PierrepontSkin

Growing up in the heights, mainly through the 90’s, I can tell you that that’s definitely not true.

    Unless I’ve drastically missed something.

  • Prince Humperdink

UPS Store on Montague has a large shredder. FedEx probably does also…

  • David on Middagh

Better bring your ax, just in case.

Only after you had a few too many at Eamon Doran’s…

Agreed with Dibs about Fascati’s – Tutt cafe does a great job with their sandwiches too.

  • August West

That’s what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

Gothamist tried to get some answers from BBP and was told initially it was due to the construction of the condos, but then appeared to be blown off when they followed up for a status report. It seems rather odd.

I see Smorgasburg is moving to Pier 2 on Sundays. Presumably over on the astroturf in the back. Does anyone know what the story is there? Maybe it will help with the pedestrian traffic going through the Heights – visitors will be more inclined to access it through the Fulton Ferry Landing entrance instead.

  • Monty

Principal just sent a welcome email confirming the kids will not have outdoor space for a few weeks until school construction is complete. Squibb Hill closure is a surprise and a mystery.

Anyone the see the outlines for the bike lane on the freshly paved Henry in the NH ? Looks like cars and bikes will have half the road each.. How stupid is this ? Cars are going to take up 2 lanes on Henry and will not be looking for an idiot on a bike that claims a right of way .. The plan needs a total redo. I only bring this up to save the idiot on a bike from getting hit by a car. The car will always win that one folks.

  • Hicksup

BOO to the bouncers not letting people on to Pier 2 because of a skating party. Bouncers? Really?

  • Hicksup

It’s too bad they can’t close the bridge off and let the kids play on the top part.

FOUND- BRACELET- on the promenade bench closest to Pierrepont Street entrance. Message me at motherberseth@aol.com with description. Have a feeling it may not belong to a local, so they may have no idea where they lost it.
