The Day After Vandalism in Brooklyn Heights Only the Citibike Station Has Been Cleaned

As of 9 AM today (6/11), the red scrawlings of a crazed vandal are still on many areas of the Fruit Street sitting area in Brooklyn Heights. As we documented yesterday, the Citibike stations were immediately cleaned. This has not been the case for areas for which the Parks Department is responsible.

It’s not a bad shade of red… maybe the Park’s Dept. should finish the job? I’m not even kidding.

Including the graffiti on the “Fruit Streets Sitting Area” sign? Should it be painted red so as to be completely unreadable?

Graffiti vandalism on public property tends to escalate once it gets started. I recall that not so long ago, the NYPD had a special unit devoted to tracking down graffiti vandals. They would learn the ‘tags’ and the different styles of damage inflicted and were charged with finding the perps which they did. I hope the BHA gets on this immediately and before it spreads.

what I’m wondering is where are all the cranks down on CitiBike, no complaints?

Has anyone called 3-1-1 about this? My experience with graffiti in this exact same area is that once you call the city, the Parks Dept. will take care of it in one or two days.
