Anyone else see the prosthelytizers in the Clark Street station this morning? Annoying!

  • neighboronhicks

Anyone know anything about the sign in the Brooklyn Heights Vet window (on Hicks and Cranberry) that reads that they’ve opened again but by appointment only?

  • Cranberry Beret

Am I the only one who thinks the unraked leaves on sidewalks are worse this year than in the past? Kudos to the building owners who took the time to clean their sidewalks and boo to those who left us to trudge through a sticky mess. On rainy days, some of these areas are as slick as any non-shoveled, iced-over sidewalk after a snowfall.

  • Brixtony

I believe that a new vet has taken over the space and will be renovating shortly and opening for regular hours in ’14

  • Brixtony

This is a love letter to Brooklyn Bridge Park: We are very lucky to have this cleverly designed, beautiful and, I believe, world class urban park. The way that narrow space gives the illusion of a much larger area is spectacular. The views, the green, the flowers, the water, the contours and the great Wobbly Bridge are magnificent. And it’s only getting better.

  • GHB

The good thing about the messy sidewalks? We know exactly which sidewalks will be icy and dangerous this winter!

  • Jorale-man

Case in point: There’s an abandoned building on the corner of Aitken Place and Clinton Street where the sidewalk is a minefield of garbage, dead leaves, branches and not one but two shopping carts chained to a pole. It’s a real eyesore and people routinely cross the street when they get to it. Come winter, neighbors can surely count on the sidewalk there being an ice rink too.

Between Vinegar Hill at their regular and new location in the Heights, and Banfield Pet Hospital on Atlantic and Boerum Place, not sure how much business they will have.

  • lois

Wish they all would sweep the leaves away and not wash the sidewalks. Yes, there seem to be a lot of leaves but don’t see how there could be more than in previous years.

  • Hicks St Guy

very annoying, they smile and say good morning, unbearable!

  • Lady in the Heights

If their intention was to be nice, then why all the religious propaganda? Sorry. I hate it, and I reported them to 311. I don’t think they have a right to be there. That is public property.

  • Maddy

    Were they there again today?

  • Lady in the Heights

I took the A today so I don’t know. I snapped a photo of them yesterday. When it was warmer they stood outside of the train station on Clark Street. I am not sure if they are JW’s or another group.

  • GHB

311? What do you say? People were being nice today? Jeez, I don’t like it either, but who are you to say they have no right being there? Try making something of importance your cause.

  • Lady in the Heights

They are not “being nice”. They are preying on people to shove religious propaganda down their throats. I find it offensive. Who are you to decide what is important to me?

  • GHB

Wow… that’s a bit extreme. This is New York. Get over it!

  • DIBS

    Chill.

  • DIBS

    “down their throats?” Really????

  • Lady in the Heights

Why is this ok in NY or anywhere? Sorry, not a fan. Isn’t it a little naive to think that they are there to be nice? They are looking for new members. Probably get points for every convert.

  • Lady in the Heights

Who would be unacceptable for you to see in the subway handing out propaganda, KKK? Neo Nazis? Everyone has their limits. Mine just happens to be lower than yours.

  • DIBS

If all else fails, invoke Godwin’s Law.

  • GHB

So, were you force-converted? You are correct… they’re annoying and they’re there to convert people. So what? As far as I know, it’s not a crime.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

    Couldn’t have said it better.

  • jivika

    fell.

  • Hicks St Guy

they have to wash the sidewalks to remove the disgusting dog urine.

  • MonroeOrange

how on earth do you relate leaves not being cleaned to dog urine…that was quite a reach, even for you…btw. Welcome Back!

  • Remsen Street Dweller

    Hey, we got connections!!

  • MonroeOrange

i agree the park is a nice addition, though i do miss the view of the warehouses (even though they were unused) from my childhood. The only thing i will disagree with is there is nothing great about an unneeded wobbly bridge, that cost 3 MILLION DOLLARS! anyone that thinks that there is anyway to justify that cost instead of donating that money to charity is fooling themselves.

  • Jorale-man

Religious fanatics or the kids with clipboards – they may be annoying but it’s their First Amendment right to do their thing. If enough people ignore them they’ll realize their tactics don’t work and they’ll move on.

  • David on Middagh

Everyone with decent balance should try out the wobbly bridge this season, before the hotel/condo buildings rise up on either.
