Here Is What Will Be Discussed At This Week’s Community Board 2 Meetings

Here’s what you can expect at the next Community Board 2 Meetings Tuesday and Wednesday:

CB2 Meetings; October 1&2, 2013

Community Board 2 (CB2) will hold its monthly economic development and health committee meetings next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

All committee meetings of Community Board 2 begin with the approval of the agenda and introduction of the committee officers. The meetings conclude with the approval of the previous month’s meeting minutes, a chairperson’s report, other business and a community forum during which the public may speak.

Economic Development & Employment Committee Meeting

Tuesday, October 1, 2013; Jonas Board Room, Metcalfe Hall, Long Island University, Flatbush and DeKalb avenues.

Terence Kelly, community affairs manager for the Barclays Center, will provide a hiring report and snapshot of the current workforce at the arena.

Josef Szende, executive director for the Atlantic Avenue Business Improvement District, accompanied by Nathan (“Ollie”) Oliver from Transportation Alternatives (TA) will speak about the “Bike Friendly Business District” planned to launch on Atlantic on Saturday, October 5.

Health, Environment & Social Services Committee Meeting

Wednesday, October 2, 2013, 6:00 pm; Dining Rooms A&B Brooklyn Hospital, 121 DeKalb Avenue at St. Felix Street

Elizabeth Bravo Santiago, manager of the Safe Return program of the Alzheimer’s Association of New York, will introduce the nationwide emergency response system for individuals with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.

The committee will also review the following liquor licenses for recommendation to the New York State Liquor Authority.

The committee will also discuss the possible rescheduling of the June 4, 2014 meeting.
