There’s a new logo on the storefront shutters within the Clark St station—Brooklyn Bread, a Carroll Gardens bakery, will be opening an outpost at the site “hopefully by the end of the month,” said owner Dimitry Bayliss. The spot, which once housed NYC Sliders (and before that another eatery whose name escapes me) seems like it should do great business, but previous owners have found little success. For this incarnation, according to Bayliss, “we’ll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also have a delivery service.” And what will set Brooklyn Bread apart from, say, Han’s Market? “The coffee. You should give it a try.” Will do! In the meantime, perhaps the secret of this spot’s success will be a bit of paint and Windex? I maintain part of the reason eateries have not done well is because it’s a bit dingy-looking. So we’ll see if it gets a spruced-up job along with a half-caf.
