The huge, long-vacated space on the northeast corner of Clark and Hicks — was a pizza place for a while, was rumored to be a Tea Lounge at one point — is undergoing a complete renovation and will be the sales office for the Brooklyn Bridge Park condos. According to the superintendent of the project, the office is supposed to open in September and will feature a model of one of the apartments.

The fields are pretty popular and even if they do that, would go quickly but I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I am paying for the league and was very shocked to find we only play on 1/3 of a field. That’s just about money in my mind. There are also tons of balls flying at all times from other fields since we’re all on top of one another. Overall though it’s beautiful and fun to be able to use them.

Bikers- I know there’s a war between those who own and those who rent. No matter which you are, I’d just like to request you stop riding on the sidewalk. That’s meant for pedestrians. A few days ago a mother with a toddler on the back of her bike almost took me out on the sidewalk. Lady if I go down, so do you and so does your son on the back of your bike. It’s not a ‘whoops’ situation especially when you continue to bike on the sidewalk.

I recently heard two runners were mowed down in Lower Manhattan by bikers and rushed to the hospital for head injuries. Do we all need to start wearing helmuts just to walk around the neighborhood?

I’ve said this before, but want to say again what a great job Eimi does on hair at the little salon in Eastern Athletic. She cuts my curly hair as well as anyone in the 15 years I’ve lived here, and the color she uses is great, and she’s willing to tweak shades if you’re not perfectly happy. AND: it’s affordable. Cut/single process color today was about $120.

I’m afraid that she doesn’t get much business and the salon will close. She’ll be closed for a month late July – August to go home to Japan, but I can’t recommend her enough.
