Wanted to give another recommendation to those yet to try Oh My Pasta. Went again last night, and again walked away happy. The gimmicky name and the “ambiance” or lack thereof is what it is – not going to win any awards for those. But the menu is just so good, and the diversity of the pasta selections is impressive. Nothing over the top, just really good, really hearty Italian food at a good price. I’d really like to see them succeed, and if you haven’t tried it yet, give it a chance! Where else does the owner come and say hello (after every meal), shake your hand and thank you for coming? FYI, despite the tone of my post, I have no affiliation with them, just rooting for them to make it.

I need nearly all of my clothes to be tailored, and I wouldn’t go to anyone but the nice Korean gentleman near the train station that everyone else has mentioned (except for my custom-made gloves, I have a specialist for that in the theater district). He knows what he’s doing and I’ve never had a problem with his work. On occasion, a job may take longer than another place because he’s only one guy and he gets a LOT a business (because his work is well regarded). So, you know, just think ahead and don’t bring something you’re gonna need by tomorrow.

David on Middagh, That’s one of the funnies Onion pieces ever, it belongs on the Le Pain Quotidien thread, as well.

@Master, totally agree. the guy is a craftsman and a good tailor is very hard to find. if you bring a “washable” coat to him, you’ve got to be kidding.

  • Willow St. Neighbor

    hicks st guy,
The coat was washable. I asked him not to dry clean it. It was an expensive jacket. I asked that he fix the pockets and he charged alot of money and his work did not hold up.
Save your nasty comments if you don’t know the whole story.

Arch, I just read your post from 10:30 last night. Wouldn’t it be easier if we just shipped you up to Williamsburg in a refrigerator box?

Knight, I was born here, I have no desire to leave, despite the current “conditions”. What’s the matter, afraid my wishes may come true?

  • David on Middagh

Is Arch Stanton using Eddyenergizer’s handle? Or vice versa?

Has anyone seen them in the same room together?

  • EHinBH

Is that person working for Oh My Pasta? That place is The Worst. Horrible.

  • EHinBH

On the car service…. The place is a hell-hole. It is falling apart, the guys are rude, I’ve seen them throw garbage on the sidewalk, and worse of all, their cars take up all the parking spaces — and illegally park up and down Orange Street.

  • thebhguy

    EHinBH,

You seem to hate a lot of things. Why don’t you start a business that makes amazing food while it provides a car service to everyone in new york city. Also make it spotless. You seem like the right person to do it.

  • Knight

Looks like someone tipped his hand, David!

  • David on Middagh

    If only we knew who…

  • resident

@thebhguy: Also better make sure that car service doesn’t take up any valuable parking spaces… now that would be a neat trick.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

@EHinBH, sadly my career is much less exciting that working in the restaurant business, so no, I don’t work there. Would you care to explain why Oh My Pasta is “The Worst” and “horrible?” As I said in my original post, dumb name and not much ambiance, so please enlighten us as to all of its other shortcomings.

  • thebhguy

@resident: I think the restaurant/car-service company should also have a movie theater in it that will have 500 seats and amazing sound and the best popcorn in the whole wide world.

  • AmyinBH

Thanks to everyone for giving me a much needed chuckle.

  • PierrepontSkin

Just so everyone should know, if you need a car service, use Eastern. They’re based in Park Slope/Windsor Terrace. I’ve been using them for years and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve called from Williamsburg, the Heights, Bay Ridge, Sheepshead Bay, Bensonhurst, and when they say “5 minutes”, they mean 5 minutes.

@Andrew – I live on that block and didn’t know it sold. 4.1m is much lower than ask two years ago. Wow how times have changed. Awkward space if you’ve ever seen it inside but a “deal” compared to the brownstone down the street that went for full price at 13.5m. Surprised we haven’t seen that on BHB.

  • lori

Who said the house on CH sold for 13.5 – as far as I know, it’s still listed with that as its asking price. I think there might be some other arrangement coming up on that property.

  • Matthew Parker

The NYT has a nice piece on the history of the Promenade: http://nyti.ms/zy9KjX

  • Master Of Middagh

PierrepontSkin is right about Eastern. I still use Heights Car & Limo when I schedule a car a day in advance, but Eastern is who I call from anywhere in the city to take me home. As reported, they are great with the accuracy (and honesty) of their timing; not to mention that they are VERY well priced, reliable and friendly.

  • Michael

Yes, I would recommend Eastern as well.

Does anyone know what’s going into the old Nine West on Montague? They’re always working but it’s never ending and I have no idea what’s coming into the space.

@Matthew Parker: Thanks for the link to the article about the Promenade!

Ok, a reader suggested we try nested comments. We’ve done it before and a Frankenstein mob gathered and begged us to take ’em down. Times change?

    Hey David.

I’m using you to test this new BHB feature because we seem to be intellectually compatible! Not sure if my comment will be public or sent directly to you with my e-mail address included. Either way, I wish you peace, my friend! Please continue to express your opinions openly on the BH Blog.
