Montague Street Radio Shack Robbed

The Radio Shack at 110 Montague Street was robbed of $7K in electronics on December 22. The Brooklyn Paper reports that 3 armed thugs – two with guns another brandishing a knife – burst into the store at 9:40 pm. The perps locked the store’s clerk in the basement and fled the scene.

Radio Shack, while the subject of ridicule seems to be a favorite target of thieves. Case in point – the Montague Street store was also held up last year.

It’s just gonna get the store closed. Shame.

Radio Shack is useful for certain things – speaker cables, odd-sized batteries, fuses. Unfortunately the store management has spent over a decade trying to turn it into a glorified cell phone store, making those other products harder to find and the management less able to help.

They were robbed a couple of days before Christmas rwo years in a row? Sounds like Bad Santa has been at work in the Heights!

It makes me wonder if there’s a connection between the criminal and one of the employees?

They’ve tried to rebrand themselves as “The Shack”. With the opening of The Shake Shack just a few blocks away, I would seriously recommend you not attempt to buy burgers there.

@ Andrew Porter – Good one! LOL

Their first manager, Nigel, was one of the last of the radio-heads I’ve encountered there or in any other branch store.

in regards to this incident, it was an inside job, as the clerk that was working, opened the security cage, where most of what stolen came from, cell phones, ipods, ipads, digital cameras, gps,
