    rerun rusie,

In my life before volunteering my services to the Brooklyn Heights Blog, I use to get paid well for giving financial advice to high net worth customers for a major bank. I love personal finance and would be more than happy to sit down with you and help you put your financial situation in order. I have all the necessary credentials, MBA in finance etc. Call me at 718-858-4710 and we can discuss your financial situation. It would be a pleasure to help you free of charge.

Homer Fink is incredible. Most of us take this informative blog for granted, I know I do, but the fact that Homer has managed, with major assistance from Claude Scales, to keep their reporting at such a high level, day after day, is unreal. I think this blog began in 2006. Wow. Congrats and hope that all have a great New Year. The attached link provides a perspective on just how lucky we all are to have Homer and Claude:

I found Homer Fink’s first post for the BHB back in August 2006. (see below)

Welcome to brooklynheightsblog, the first “serious” blog from the geniuses at The Fink File. While Brooklyn has its share of great bloggers, we found precious little about our ‘hood in one centralized/not spam website. So instead of whining (or not getting off the couch) we decided to launch this blog.

We’re actively looking for “real” folks from our nabe to blog here about a variety of different topics. If you’re “that guy/gal” drop us an email (homer AT thefinkfile.com).

    Onward and upward,

    Homer Fink

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced pet sitter in the neighborhood?

Kind of off-topic for a BHB OTW, but does anyone know what the structure is being built next to the Home Depot in Gowanus? Waste transfer station? Mystery train station?

Yes its a waste transfer station.

Andrew, thank you for the input.

Karl, your post is incredibly generous. I will see my husband on Sunday night (opposite schedules until then) and I will discuss your fine offer with him. However, we would certainly need to compensate you for your intellectual property and time!

Homer, I have impending medical tests which weigh heavily on all my possible futures (in reference to earlier e-mail from you). I will know in a couple of weeks whether or not I can come to the aid of BHB.

@jane, there are tons of day care/preschool options here, but all are $$$$. That’s BH for you. Mine goes to Kiddie Korner which is full service and can do all-day care or just a few hours a few days a week. There is also day care at BH synagogue, Grace Church, Plymouth Church, Imagination Day Care on Monroe and NY Kids Club. There are probably more, but that’s all I know off the top of my head.

@AndrewPorter – wishing you a VERY healthy new year…you would be an excellent contributor!
