Is This Your Yorkie?

BHB reader Paul sends us the dispatch:

found this Yorkie this morning on the corner of Garden Place and State Street wearing a collar but no ID tags. Any help locating the owner would be greatly appreciated.

Update from Paul this afternoon:

As of this moment, no one has stepped forward as the actual owner. The Yorkie was taken to a vet and it is not micro-chipped.

Update: Paul comments:

I’m the guy who found the lost Yorkie and to everyone who has responded, thank you very much. As of Sunday morn, the owner has not come forward. My suspicion is that this beautiful Yorkie is a throwaway as unspeakable as that thought may be to animal lovers. The dog does not respond to the names of Thriller or Coco. I found a loving foster family for our Yorkie in Cobble Hill and that home could be permanent if necessary. Thanks again to everyone at Brooklyn Heights Blog for your help.

I hope her person shows up soon. Poor thing must be scared $H!+less. Glad she was found and in a safe place. Can you bring her to a vet and see if she’s microchipped?

this is the blog that helped me get my escape artist back when he took off in june!
i shared this post & i will foster her if i am needed! i have a boy who loves girl pups so he wouldn’t mind if she doesn’t mind–if we are needed!

You should bring the dog into a vet Or shelter to check for a micro chip for identification…..

Hope they find the owners, but I would adopt that dog in two seconds.

    Is the dog named, “Thriller?”

@ LeslieH might have seen the owner (see post on this week’s Open Thread)

  • Hortense

Say someone looking for dog named Thriller on Thursday am

  • Amanda

I would be happy to provide a home for this doggie if she is not claimed. I have an older Spaniel, female, very mellow, and a gentle male cat and sweet parrot.

LeslieH posted on the Open Thread that she heard someone frantically running around BH looking for their dog.
I wish LeslieH had said where in Brooklyn Heights this happened.
LeslieH if you are reading this, please let us know where you think the dog might have disappeared.

At Ditmas Avene in Kensington there are signs for a lost Yorkie. I will try to see if it is on a Kensington/Ditmas Park blog

How could anybody be so heartless & cruel as to “throw-away” a defenseless little animal? Esp. in the cold winter on a NYC street. There must be special place in H*ll for someone like this.

But thankfully there are good people like Paul and the new foster family who helped save the little guy. Kudos to them!

  • LeslieH

I heard the frantic calls for “Thriller” on Henry street (at Clark)…

    Paul,
I Googled “lost Yorkie in Brooklyn” and came up with several instances where Yorkies had been stolen in Brooklyn. It appears that this breed of dog is ripe for stealing. I don’t know why but maybe because of their size they can be hidden under a coat while the thief is trying to get away. This could be a stolen dog that someone threw away. Whatever the case, if someone in the neighborhood had lost that dog, they would have put up flyers by now.
As an animal lover, thank you for taking care of this little dog and making sure it is safe.

    LeslieH,
Thanks for giving the location. I will keep my eyes open for any posters or flyers in that area.

    Paul,
http://www.fidofinder.com has two Yorkies listed as lost in Brooklyn.
Their names are Wuppy and Matsu.
Matsu went missing in August. Wuppy went missing in the summer.
There are pictures if you want to take a look or you might have done that already.
