You know what I like about the BH Cinema? It’s reasonably priced. The tickets are $10 (Angelika is $13) and the snacks are totally reasonable as well. I paid $5 for candy and a bottle of water on Saturday night. Today at the Angelika, I paid $10 for a small soda and a small popcorn.

AT&T/IPHONE users – any improvements in mobile phone reception in the Heights?

I bet Homer and crew could do a good public service on this blog by creating an annual (or semi-regular) list of the best and worst neighbors in BH. By that I mean naming businesses who don’t take care of their sidewalks, let trash gather, and otherwise be bad local citizens. The flip side should also be recognized.

It’s clear many residents here take great pride in the neighborhood and this could be a way to reinforce good neighborliness.

@Jorale-man- I’m sure that wouldn’t lead to any petty bickering. And by “wouldn’t”, I mean that it totally would. I still agree with you that it’s a good topic.

  • Jorale-man

@Master – true enough. I remember the Village Voice used to do a list of the city’s worst landlords. You’d have to do it in a way that had some standards of objectivity built in however (citations from the city, etc.) so it wasn’t just a witch hunt against businesses who forgot to sweep once in a while.

If anyone happens to swing by the cinema, sixteen of my photos are currently on display. Because this is my first Brooklyn exhibit, I intentionally chose many photos that were taken in the neighborhood. Enjoy! :)

I hope the “no parking signs” are really for construction and not a ruse for the church to get a de facto parking lot… Many cops are sympathetic to religious cause and would easily go along with such chicanery. We should keep an eye on this…

It seems that Oprah was in town to learn about how the Hasids of Brooklyn get down.

  • Mr. Cad

Hope it’s not too late but Curmudgeon has it crossed your mind to speak to someone in the cinema about sweeping? It might be the nice thing to do before trying to get them a summons. Welcome to the hood new cinema owners! Maybe you will be happy if they close and a Duane Reade opens….so long as they sweep the street

  • Foghorn Leghorn

Well, I say there… That girl in the above photo has got Chicken Legs!

The signs on the marquee seem to denote cause and effect. Kind of funny.

Your comment really upset my wife who happens to be the subject of your observation. We all can’t be perfect.
