    I’ve been here twenty years.

Being close to the river, and hence the pyrotechnic gun barges, is a perk of living where I do. I don’t care THAT much that after a couple of decades of merely rattling the eardrum (“the window to the middle ear”), the shells have begun rattling the windows of the house. As has been pointed out above, though not as elegantly, pyrotechnics are the artful recapitulation of the battlefield.

So maybe we should pause, on random Tuesday nights, when the mood falls upon us–detonates above us–vibrates our souls (or soles, if we are properly dressed)–to hold in our thoughts the reverent memory of–ah, shoot. Help me out, fellow Brooklynites! Which war is worthy? Which battle deserving? Which soldiers are best honored by these surprise attractions?

Wait. I have a surprise proposal. Let each amazed resident pick any bloody, loud brouhaha that is close to his heart. Or her heart. Tuesday is viewers’ choice!

@Hicksstreetguy – I tolerate the occasional fireworks, don’t love it…but Tuesday’s display was woefully loud, and yes, I was in full chatter.

All you fireworks haters, why don’t you pull the stick out of your butts, walk down to the promenade and enjoy the show?

  • Maestro

The fireworks were to loud. Period.

Great idea, Arch! I’ll stop eating dinner or getting work done or otherwise preparing for the next WORK day, leave my apartment and watch fireworks!

I mean, stop and smell the roses and all that….
