A One Armed Something is Missing in Brooklyn Heights

Mrs. Fink snapped this photo of a flyer posted along Hicks Street today. Apparently some sort of one-armed bird (penguin?) has gone missing. There is a phone number posted, but it’s indecipherable. Take a closer look at the poster after the jump and help us solve this mystery.

My impression was that it was a lost stuffed toy penguin that a child lost and was very attached to. I once had a teddy bear that….

Penguin is correct. We know the kid who posted the sign and we’ll have her modify her note.

Those St. Ann’s/Packer kids are super creative. Must be all of the art programs they offer.

I hope the little girl finds her friend okay.

Just look for the penguin going in circles…that should be a dead giveaway.

If the penguin is found – ie we have proof of life – we will reward the person who recovered and returned it to its rightful owner with a Brooklyn Bugle t-shirt!

My partner’s seeing-eye dog found the penguin. Help me get intouch with the parents of the girl who lost it.

At first I thought this was related to the “Lost Pigeon” notices up on Atlantic at Court — “answers to Donald” — but then David on Middagh and I deciphered that it must be a toy…

  • David on Middagh

    The pigeon was “Dennis”, IIRC.

    Dennis on the grass, alas…

“There are eight million stories in the Naked City; this has been one of them.”

Quote taken from the wonderful movie made in 1948 entitled “The Naked City”.

There was also a great TV series by the same name…
