Brooklyn’s Theaters Then and Now

The Brooklyn Eagle’s John Manbeck gets in his time machine and tells us about the forgotten theaters of Brooklyn.  One passage mentions Brooklyn Heights:

Brooklyn Eagle: All Brooklyn’s a Stage: In the Heights, we still have Norman Addie’s Brooklyn Heights Cinema, but behind the St. George Hotel used to stand the art deco St. George Playhouse on Pineapple Street, sometimes called the Pineapple Street Cinema. Over on Columbia Heights was the Happy Hour Theater. Down by Columbia Street was the Luna Theater — known as the Auditore Maurice Theater before 1910 — and on Clinton Street, the Clinton Theater (1939) with the Pioneer Theater on Pioneer Street in Red Hook from 1921 until 1955.
