The Brooklyn Historical Society is starting a new feature: “Map of the Month”, which will appear on the BHS blog. This month’s map is from 1655 and shows “Novi Belgii, Novaeque Angliae nec non partis Virginiae” (New Netherland, New England and part of Virginia). It is attributed to Nicholas Visscher, and features a view of New Amsterdam (later New York) at the bottom. Click on the map to see an enlargement.
