Brooklyn Heights Apartment to Get HGTV Makeover

BHB pal Chuck Taylor’s Montague Street pad will get the full-on makeover treatment this week courtesy of HGTV. While he’s totally not allowed to blog the cat out of the bag regarding the Dear Genevieve bedroom makeover while it’s in progress he shares a little of the pre-redesign excitement:

The Smoking Nun: You’d think that was the holy grail, but in New York, coop living requires Board approval, which was as tenacious a task as chewing off one’s toenails with two teeth in the back of your head, so there was a long road toward making this a reality. Given the number of queries and concerns, you’d think we were proposing rebuilding the Brooklyn Bridge.

But at last, in December, we got a thumbs up from the Board… only to find out that it had taken us so long to gain approval that our makeover had been pushed back from January to late February. Sigh… But then, a week ago, a call: The show had a cancellation —and an opening for the week of Jan. 10-14. Our response: Yes, please!

    Congrats Chuck,

Don’t forget the mirrored ceilings. Does wonders for making an apartment appear larger. Oh, never mind, that’s mirrors on the wall not ceiling.. Don’t know what I was thinking.

Also, remember earth colors and keeping it light. yes, I’m looking forward to seeing your Arlington pad.

    You think they’ll tap Bruno’s?

I would love to know where I can get the kinds of distressed mirrors G. put on their bedroom walls — with the old-fashioned buttons. Does anyone know? Help!
