Elizabeth Scholtz, a native of Pretoria, South Africa who has made Brooklyn her home since 1960 and lives in the Heights, has served the Brooklyn Botanical Garden for fifty years.
Brooklyn Daily Eagle: On Monday Elizabeth Scholtz, director emeritus of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and a Brooklyn Heights resident, celebrated 50 years of service to BBG and the international horticultural community. For half a century she has been a peerless ambassador and advocate for public gardens and horticultural education throughout the world and has mentored several generations of North American public garden professionals.
According to the Eagle article, Ms. Scholtz has won awards from the American and Royal Horticultural Societies, and “continues to serve as a vital resource for [BBG] staff, volunteers, and visitors.”
