I had posted this in the wrong thread, but anyway, last night I went to see the opening of The Mikado at the Heights Players. It was really cool – I totally recommend it.

It was a glorious day for Brooklyn Bridge park today. Big thumbs up for Ditch Plains Drop-in. They opened this week inside the the little structure at the north end of the park. We visited today and had some terrific food. Sloppy Ditch (hot dog smothered in sloppy joe and mac and cheese) was great and they do kids meals with little sandwiches, goldfish, drink and a toy for $6. Tasty, fresh, friendly and not too expensive. They were a little slow getting orders out, but it’s their first week so I assume they will get quicker with practice. I’ve also enjoyed Blue Marble (weren’t there today despite the sunny weather) and was unimpressed with Calexico (not bad, not great). Has anyone tried the wine bar yet?

I also saw the opening of Mikado at the Heights Players. It is a treat for the eyes, the ears and the heart. Run, don’t walk. Reservations 718 -237-2752.

How are things going with “Baby Fink” his momma and his daddy? Surprised you still have time to blog, but keep up the good work.

Nice stoop! The BHA should give prizes and recognition for autumn stoops and windowboxes, in addition to spring ones. And how about those pumpkins outside Lassen & Hennig’s?

As part of Open House New York I went on a tour of BBP with it’s president, Regina Myer. She was a good host and it was interesting to hear of things to come. I wasnt – for instance – aware a hotel and condo was being built in between pier one and two (which will partially block views from the current JW factory). And, that there are two spaces (abutting Furman) being reserved for future possible housing. I was not too siked about basketball and handball courts at Pier 2. I just dont think that will be used much by this hood. Would have rather had more open green space (quiet). In any event, I think it is really going to be great once complete.
