On his morning walk, your correspondent spotted workers laying paving stones over the site of the sinkhole that caused the Clark Street entrance to the Promenade to be closed just over a month ago.

Update: (after the jump)

I walked by again at 3:35 p.m., hoping to see an open passageway. Instead, I found the barriers still up, a patch of fill dirt marking the spot of the sinkhole, and all the laboriously laid paving blocks having been removed and left in a jumbled pile.

At least it only took them a month.

There could be a good reason for the previously laid paving stones being removed and put aside. Remember what happened with the sink hole on Hicks & Orange a block away: after it was filled it began to sink again. It could be that the Parks dept. is just waiting to see if they put enough “fill” in the hole before putting the crowning touch on the repairs.
