Upstate newspaper the Times Herald Record recalls the "good old days" of the Catskills with memories from a few Brooklyn Heights residents:
Times Herald Record: Jewish Culture, Catskills Style: "It was a life that we adored and unfortunately will never be duplicated," said Jerilyn Kaplan, who came with her husband, Gerald, of Brooklyn Heights. The two spent their youth at bungalows and, later, hotels like the Stevensville in Swan Lake.
They talked of counselors and camp outs, the movie theater in Fallsburg, the arcade in Monticello, Katz's and Singer's and shows at the hotel casino. When they were suddenly joined by Brooklyn Heights friends Gail and Shelly Salinsky, the four repeated Mal Z. Lawrence's schtick about saving food for later.
