JTH is a good brunch option in the nabe–and I love when they have buckwheat pancakes as a special.

I also just recently fell in love with Iris Cafe for brunch.

Just over the “border” in Dumbo, Five Front with its amazing back yard, and General Store with a great breakfast sandwich are also good brunch options.

We (party of 2) went to Jack the Horse this past Sunday at 11:30. We were told it would be 20 minutes for a table and we actually waited for 45 (and were not offered space or a drink at the bar — we should have thought to ask for it). Service was lackluster and slow but the food was good, especially the blueberry pancakes. Unfortunately there are not many good brunch options in the North Heights.

Sunday brunch for me means Trader Joe’s Frozen French Toast in the microwave, or bagels from the place on Montague. And OJ from Key Food. I’m not cheap, just frugal. And I get to listen to the rebroadcast of “Prairie Home Companion” on WNYC-AM (yes, I’m a member).
