Atlantic Avenue Key Food, Under New Management, Appears to Have Some Issues

img_0586

A BHB tipster sent in photo of this NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets notice at the Key Food on Atlantic and Clinton.  It states that after an inspection the establishment shows “critical deficiencies” that must be corrected “immediately”.  No further information is available online.  Anyone familiar with this department and their inspections?

Boycotting Fresh Direct. I would feel like a hypocrite to complain about the chopper noise and then contribute to the refrigerated diesel truck cacophony.

@Rik Lucas: Don’t forget about Garden of Eden’s
    6) Salad bar sales: 1/2 off after 7:30pm, which makes everything $4/lb. or less. Get there at 7:20 and by the time you’re through the line…

I’ve been in supermarkets in California and other states, and you simply can’t compare those stores and the ones in NYC. For one thing, those are car cultures, with enormous parking lots and no walk-in business, no access via public transit. And having lived in NYC most of my life, I never learned to drive. (Tell that to someone in Calif. or most other places, and they try not to look at the second head growing out of your shoulder.)

Andrew is right, the rest of the country is one big suburb.

Key Foods on Atlantic and Clinton Avenues is a disaster. The new staff is the rudest and least knowledgeable of any in the business. They talk across checkout counters to each other and ignore customers. They do not know where items are located. The arrangement of many items makes no sense. I have to crawl on my hands and knees to reach the Idaho potatoes. You will not last long in this competitive environment.

In other words, Natalie, business as usual.

The image of “I have to crawl on my hands and knees to reach the Idaho potatoes” is a classic. Ya can’t make this stuff up…

I just bought a chicken there whose original sell by label had been partially removed, with a new one stuck over. It went from May 5 to May 16.

I’m calling the health dept. tomorrow. See below.
