Specifically, I have a ~10-year-old GE side by side. I used a firm for my dryer repair about a year ago, but didn’t particularly like them, so figured I’d ask around.

What’s up with your ads? They’re oddly disturbing.
Eddyde
We all don’t see the same ads. Most of the ads you see are targeted specifically for you, selected by algorithms from your internet browsing history. Right now, I’m seeing ads for heavy duty electric motors, PLC’s (programmable logic controller’s) and angular contact bearings. What are you seeing?

Does anyone know what the horn honk sound Is around cadman plaza on the weekday mornings? It’s not a car or truck horn, more of a long gentle honking sound that kind of announces “something is starting nowwww….” Thanks for your help.
CassieVonMontague
You sure you’re not hearing a ship’s horn from the harbor? Some of them can be very loud and long. By Cadman Plaza, they may sound gentle.

Speaking of noises, anyone hear the low rumbling near Pierrepont and Willow the past few days? At first I thought it was a distant rock concert, then maybe a subway exhaust fan, now my theory is it is the temporary boiler in front of 65 Montague. Am I crazy?
CassieVonMontague
I’ve started searching google for appliance tutorials fixes first before calling a repair service. There are lots of youtube videos out there that show you how to fix things. At least you’ll get an idea of the issue first and sometimes you can even find the part to buy.
Local_Montague_Man
it is that. obviously worse on Montague….pretty annoying. it has been in front of the building for a while now, how long can it legally be there? also taking up some prime parking!
bkhtsmom
It’s the air horn at the construction site at 1 Clinton Street (old library site)

Come on AbeLincoln, tell us what “oddly disturbing” ads your browsing history is generating!

This has got to end…this remote Boiler is soooo loud!!!! It is waking us up. We called 311.
CassieVonMontague
Thank you. I called, too. It’s starting to drive me crazy. Everyone who can hear it, please call 311. A friend mid-block down Willow St can hear it. It sounds like a subwoofer.
There is no legal limit on a temporary boiler. Peoples heat and hot water are apparently more important than parking or the sensitivity of your nerves. Replacing a boiler in a building that size is not a simple matter, plans have to be filed, it usually has to be made to custom specifications and the old boiler must be removed, which most likely involves an asbestos abatement. Probably $250K job. So it may be there for a while.

When I access BHB from my phone and go to comments, I see some grotesque, and sometimes borderline porno, ads featuring photos of people who have undergone some sort of weight loss regimen. Unfortunately, I have no control over the ads.

Of course their heat is more important but there are noise laws. The unit is on Montague and can be heard on Willow halfway to Clark.
I expect a different unit can be brought it or this unit can be serviced in some way. I’ve lived next door to one of these all winter and barely heard a peep.
Bring it up to the building’s co-op board. No one hears this unit more than them.

Tip of the hat to neighbors who are busy cleaning the leaves off their sidewalks, especially with the impending rainstorm(s), which will bring a lot of them down.

Thanks Claude. For a second I thought I was losing my mind. This is exactly what I’m talking about.
