TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THE BROOKLYN HEIGHTS LIBRARY. Libraries are one of the pillars of a free and open society. For countless years, people have relied on the information and public space provided by libraries to grow as individuals and as a community. Now, the government has plans to deprive us of this opportunity. Join us in the fight to save by coming to our Fundraiser making a donation. Every contribution makes a difference! http://www.lovebrooklynlibrariesinc.org

    Fall Fundraiser
    Sunday, October 23rd
    Location:
    James Weir Florist
    6PM-9PM
155 Montague Street Brooklyn, NY 11201

I patronize James Weir Florist. Prior to certain holidays, you can barely move around the shop because there are a half-dozen other customers. The store ought to be perfectly scaled for this fundraiser.

I saw their flyer at the Atlantic Antic. Minimum donation is $100. Kind of steep, IMHO.

As Brooklyn Heights braces for another major construction project at the site of the former Cadman Plaza Library, get ready for beeping construction vehicles, jackhammers and clouds of dust.
About the motion alarms, OSHA provides for their disconnection if there are flagger/spotters. The invasive alarms which function with forward, lateral as well as backward movements are designed to wake you up. Let’s watch for the issuance of waivers to do after-hours construction.

Roberto, have you heard anything new
on the 141 Willoughby rezoning issue?
As of today my building rep. believes
Levin will again lead City Council in an
    approval vote.
    Can you confirm?

Looking for a General Practitioner in the neighborhood. If accept Medicare that would be a plus. My personal physician retired. Thanks all.

Cheap! Maybe you can request a free bouquet of flowers with every $100.00 donation, followed by a punch in the gut for being CHEAP!

Do you live in a bubble of quiet peaceful fantasy? The Capote house been a huge construction nightmare of noise, dust, mud, dirt, garbage trucks etc for 2 years. You complain about a possibility of noise !
    I have no sympathy.

  • StudioBrooklyn

I’m looking for a new local GP too! Would be grateful for recommendations.

  • Roberto

In thinking of one reader’s comment to mine, it’s not possible for anyone to live “in a bubble of quiet peaceful fantasy” in this area of Brooklyn. I definitely sympathize with the reader’s litany of justified complaints about the “nightmare of noise, dust, mud, dirt, garbage trucks, etc. for 2 years” at The Capote house on Willow Street. More or less, we’re all in the same boat. And our boat will experience more rough seas in the near future.

I am quite happy with Dr. Michael Kim working out of the Mount Sinai Practice at 300 Cadman.

Yes, numerous sidewalk sheds and construction sites all around the Heights. The south side of Pierrepont between Clinton and Henry is an especially dense construction zone. The sidewalk shed around the St. George Tower has been up for at least 2 years, with noise to match.

In the summer, my A/C masks the noise, but in spring and fall windows are open, and…

I took my “Human” over to the Hillside Dog run this morning. I must say, I was surprised to see so many poohs that hadn’t been picked up by the other “Humans”. It is disgusting and unhealthy for us all. I am tired of hearing the “I didn’t see it happen” excuse, if you kept an eye on your Dog and not on your stupid cellphone there wouldn’t be a problem. Rant over- Woof!
Now where did he put that hairbrush I’ve been working on….

  • CHatter

Ditto his colleague Dr. Matthew Lane at the same practice.

  • Karl Junkersfeld

Went to Michael Kim yesterday and could not be more pleased. Service at Mount Sinai is excellent, Thanks for your assistance.
