announce our lawsuit, June, 10th, was
not dismissed. I repeat, NOT DISMISSED.

others on Facebook about our site and the
    lawsuit.
It’s time for the sun to shine on these Pay to Play

Thanks for delaying what is the inevitable and what is wanted by the neighborhood. Sad that this is what your life is dedicated to: fighting fights that nobody wants to fight. I wish you well.

The murder of Michelle Marks began Ginia Bellafante’s piece in the Sunday Metro section. She expanded on this tragedy, succinctly exposing how little real attention is paid to ‘domestic’ violence vis a vis sexual assaults. Well worth reading.

Thanks for the library update, MPIERCE. I agree that the last things our neighborhood needs is yet another high rise and a questionable sale of public land.

When I go to BHB from my iPhone I often get annoying pop up offers blocking the page. It only seems to happen with this site. Anyone else? Any way to stop it?

  • Banet

Happens to me too. Some ad they run hijacks the phone. You just have to try again a few times. :-(

Why are cars with plates indicating NYC Official Business permitted to park on the “no parking permitted anytime” side of Joralemon Street between Clinton & Sidney Place all day long? It is a very narrow street with wheelchair accessible vans stopping there and makes it very difficult to parallel park on the muni meter side with all the cars on the wrong side all day long!

Not that I am in any hurry to have it reopened, but is there any update at all to the Squib park footbridge to the park? There has been zero work done on this since it closed. It is not hard to presume that the Pierhouse honchos have really paid off this whole fiasco.

  • Mark

    No, not wanted.

  • Mary Kim

Good morning, neighbors! While you’re all here and being all opinionated, please stop by the nomination thread for best eats (a few posts back) and share your favorites. The more entries, the better to pick from. Thanks all.

  • Mark

    Thank You!

  • ColumbiaHeightster

We all realize that different people have different opinions, right? Not sure that “the neighborhood” wants anything in unison.

  • StudioBrooklyn

I liked this little red bug on the drinking fountain on the promenade today.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Also, arrived home to find a few of these packages littering my front stoop. With the exception of Chabad, I am continually perplexed to encounter proselytizing from people of this religion.

  • bklyn84

I doubt the bridge will open this year.

BBP has taken HNTB Corporation to court over the bridge (Index Number 450115/2016 in New York County). Justice Ramos has set 12/1/2016 as the end date for all disclosure.

In the meantime BBP Directors unanimously approved a $516,000 capital project earlier this year to bring in ARUP. “ARUP will replace HNTB as engineer-of-record for the Bridge and provide BBP with a retrofit design to stabilize the Bridge and provide construction administration services to facilitate the repair.” BBP Minutes, Jan. 22, 2016, Exhibit A, Capital Project Agreements.

May be inevitable but definitely not wanted.

Are you looking for a new church? Resurrection Brooklyn Heights is a new church in the neighborhood. Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30am at Congregation Mt. Sinai. resurrectionbrooklynheights.org. Childcare provided.

  • AbeLincoln

Most of the posters here have told HereToStay it’s not wanted.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

So posters on some blog (no offense; I love the blog) are somehow representative of a 20,000+ person neighborhood? Come on.

Another tree was cut down on Henry St. between Remsen and Joraleman yesterday after a large branch fell down last week. This is the 7th tree cut down on this block this year and none have been replanted yet. Does anyone have information on why these trees are being cut down and what the plan is to replace them? I heard they are making the planting areas larger by cutting out more of the sidewalk, but I don’t know if that’s true or not.

  • AbeLincoln

Yes. And if you go back and read some of the previous comments, I think you’ll agree with me.

  • Bornhere

The trees on the eastern side of Henry will be replaced in September.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

Yes, 100% agree with you re: the sentiments of those who post on this blog…but per my previous post, that really means nothing in the scope of the entire ‘hood. Posters on the BHB do not represent the whole of the Heights (as much as I enjoy the blog).

  • Jorale-man

I hope so. It really looks barren on that block now – like old photos of the ‘hood in the 1800s. I assume it’s some form of disease?

  • Bornhere

On the eastern side, yes. Across the street, it seems more like heavy/dangerous branches. Snow accumulation would make them dip dramatically. Too bad, too — I loved them.

Apologies if this has been addressed on BHB already, but anyone notice that “Peas And Pickles” (R.I.P.) sign has changed again? Is it under new management…again? I’m holding out hope that we might get some decent, inexpensive produce in this ‘hood. I always make the trek over to Atlantic Veg

  • CHASESGILBERT

Jews don’t proselytize. Chabad, for one, encourages Jews to become more religious but no Jewish organization seeks to convert non Jews.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Respectfully, Chase, if you push religion or religiousness on someone who doesn’t believe in religion or has distanced themselves from religion, no matter what religion that person’s parents might have practiced, it’s proselytizing as much.

  • StudioBrooklyn

I suspected as much but didn’t retain the literature long enough to investigate.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Fair to say we’re probably not a random sample.
