St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street, will host its annual Community Day this Sunday, March 29, from 11:30am to 2:30pm. All are invited, and there is no charge for admission. The event will feature song, dance, and written word performances that showcase the diverse ethnic heritages of the College’s community, and will conclude with a muticultural buffet lunch. St. Francis College is proud to host the 12th annual Community Day to celebrate the many cultures and ethnicities that make up the College, this Sunday March 29 at 11:30am at the College. Students, faculty, staff and administrators will all come together for a three part event that begins with an all-inclusive, spiritual mass. The day continues with dancing, singing and spoken word performances that reflect the diversity of backgrounds of the population. Last is a multicultural buffet with a variety of homemade dishes.
“People from the neighborhood have always been welcome at Community Day,” said Psychology Professor and event organizer Jennifer Lancaster. “But this year we are encouraging members of our Brooklyn Heights community as well as our St. Francis College community, not only to attend, but also to participate.”
People who do come to Community Day will be treated to a mass conducted in 15 languages and numerous performances including by the PS 8 elementary school chorus and the SFC Dance Team.
The diversity of St. Francis College has been noted by several publications including U.S.News & World Report which ranks the College as the fifth most diverse Baccalaureate College in the North.
Community Day is sponsored by The Institute for International and Cross-Cultural Psychology, the Office of the President, the Office of Student Activities and the Student Government Association.
