It sounds like a game of “telephone”: a security guard at Brooklyn Bridge Park (who heard it from wherever) told it to “a long-time Brooklyn Heights local.” The Brooklyn Paper reports that said long-time local announced the news at Wednesday evening’s meeting about the proposed tower on the site of Pineapple Walk, but was silenced by other attendees. The Brooklyn Paper reporter called Pierhouse’s representatives, who at first did not flatly deny the rumor, saying only that they “could not confirm” it. This was enough for Curbed to go with the story, with appropriate cautionary language. The Brooklyn Paper, though, notes that the PR person for Pierhouse later called and said the rumor wasn’t true.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z Coming to Pierhouse? Don’t Bet On It.
