The New York Times reports on a group of Packer teens and their art trip to Johannesburg:
NY Times: With their U-shaped sleeping pillows and their passports tucked in Ziploc-like bags, they looked like any other teenage tourists arriving at Oliver Tambo International Airport to see the scenic splendor of South Africa.
But the 14 or so teenagers who arrived in a group Sunday afternoon were not here to tour. They are 10th and 11th graders at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights, and they are taking their two-week spring break to offer lessons in art, dance and other visual arts to younger students at the Sivuyiseni School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, outside Port Elizabeth as part of a program run by Brooklyn-based ArtWorks for Youth.
