Tree Limb Down on Montague

Last night’s high winds sheared a limb off this tree in front of 57 Montague Street, causing damage to two parked cars. Building staff were busy with cleanup this morning.

    does anyone know why they cut down the whole tree? The rest of it was fine.

    Dw718, I hate to see more tree go than necessary. Maybe someone else will weigh in, as I am not an arborist.

    I’m told that there was rot in the interior of the tree. It was only, I was also told, seventeen years old. My memory (I’ve lived at 57 Montague since 1983) sort of validates that. I hope I live to see its replacement reach equal stature.
