Now, NBC New York reports that a car struck the 55-year-old male pedestrian near 60 Old Fulton Street and Front Street near the entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park, around 2:30 p.m., pinning him against a wall.
It is not clear how the accident happened, but the driver stayed at the scene. He has not been charged. The victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition. Police are continuing to investigate.
DNAInfo.com adds that employees at a nearby auto body shop say they saw police and emergency personnel racing to the spot where Old Fulton Street goes beneath a Brooklyn Bridge overpass, “a busy area where traffic converges from several different directions.”
