I hate to admit it, Topham, but I was thinking the same thing.

  • Mr. Crusty

No God Almighty, Gerry is like a bad rash, he keeps coming back to irritate some more.

Report of a car striking a pedestrian in the area of 60 Old Fulton St. The victim, reported to be a 55-year-old female, was pinned between the car and a wall, and is being transported to Lutheran Medical Center in critical condition.

    @WillowNabe

LSE is certainly respectable but hardly qualifies one for entry into the elite; and besides, these things are measured by where one went as an undergraduate.

    @Hicks St Guy

Why did you hate to admit that you were thinking the same thing? We’re all snobs, of course.

  • Moni

Hicks St Guy, speak for yourself. I went to Hunter. Yay!

  • WillowNabe

My husband went to state and city colleges and has been very successful. Not all of us were born with a silver spoon in our mouths.

  • Gerry

2 WillowNabe – I graduated college with scholarships and student loans and had a ton of debt when I graduated back in the day the late 1970’s was not the norm it is today.

Tuition is too expensive. I am glad that your husband “went” to state and city colleges and I hope that he graduated?

And what about you were you born with a silver spoon in your mouth?

@ TopHam and Hicks Street guy – when I think of my BC Lacrosse teamates the wild guys we had been guys from Manhasset, Garden City, Greenwich, Ct. these guys were hardly upstanding citizens and today 2 of my BC classmates are in prison for white collar crimes. All walks of life attend BC.

  • Hicks St Guy

BC was known as a major party school for dumb-ass Irish kids, as my sister who resided in Chestnut Hill and her neighbors would complain about. Boston politics is riddled with “triple eagles” who attended BC high school, college and their law school, and know and do nothing.

Gerry…whats your blog’s name? Being that im pretty sure you lie about everything else…I bet you won’t let the people on this blog know the real name…well Gerry?

  • Jazz

Gerry’s blog is called Brownstoner… yeah that’s the ticket.

I’ve just learned of the death in Maine of Harry Smith, poet, author and publisher, who lived for many years on Joralemon Street. I first met Harry more than 40 years ago, when we both worked on various small press book fairs in NYC. I also saw him every year at the American Bookseller Association annual conventions, in cities across the USA, where he always had an exhibit booth.

When you look at his photo in the attached URL, I’m sure many here—Nabe Guy especially—will recognize him:

I remember him, nice fellow as I recall. My condolence.

T.K. Small, have not seen posts from you for a long time. Were you a prisoner of the scaffolding around the Pierrepont Hotel?

I’m holding onto my pay-as-you-go Virgin cellphone, $15 every 3 months, which I got at Radio Shack on Montague. I don’t need to be connected every second of my life.

Brownstoner is owned by Jonathan Butler. An excellent source of info about brownstone Brooklyn. I am especially partial to the posts of Montrose Morris.

  • T.K. Small

I’m still around, just busy with a number of projects.

  • pankymom

Hey wait a minute … Gerry, is your real name Al Goldstein? Are you a famous magazine editor/publisher? I am getting a definite ELITE vibe from your posts … must be the tie to Boston College. Jesuits, right?

the painting of prom girl reminds me of the scream….anyone else

  • DBechtel

So glad to hear about Mohammed! He is still missed. Thanks..

  • Gerry

@ MonroeOrange – if you need to ask for the name of our blog and website you are not from the walk of life that our clients stroll thank you for your interest but we have no use for you at this time.

  • Gerry

@ Hicks Street Guy – BC is a party school and has many Irish students but standards here are high enough to have me gain enrtry to LSOE and graduate I had to study at BC.

I think that the Lacrosse team had HAD your sister on Chestnut Hill she is kind of not great looking like you with bigger boobs right?

  • WillowNabe

    Gerry,
Me? Silver spoon? Hardly. I am one of those people who is actually grateful to be living here and pinch myself every day.
I grew up in a basement apartment in Flatlands in the early 50’s before heading out to the suburbs.
My husband has an MBA in Finance.
No, Alison Derosa is not the person I was speaking about.
The young lady is a Swarthmore grad. Have no idea what she’s doing now.

  • Gerry

@ WillowNabe – It appears that your begining in Flatlands provided a foundation for a successful life and I know that you are proud of yourself – your husband is a fortunate guy to have you with him.

My begining was humble also my dad provided for our family well on the salry of an FBI Agent money was tight but we were OK my parents loved each of us so much mom and dad were wonderful parents.

I recall dad had shoved financial aid, student loan forms, etc. in my face TOLD ME that I was going to college, etc. and each of us my two brothers and I have become successful adults my youngest brother is an orthopedic surgeon the other a CPA.

A lacrosse scholarship at BC was a great help to me unfortunatly students do not get athletic scholarships of that kind these days.

May God bless you and your husband.

    Have a wonderful day.

  • DIBS

Gerry seems far more obnoxious here than I ever was on Brownstoner
    -DaveInBedStuy

  • MonroeOrange

DIBS, never read the Brownstoner..but i would say that is a safe bet!

  • GHB

DIBS, I never found you obnoxious on Brownstoner. Just very active.

  • Brooklyn Girl

@Gerry – with all of your fabulous education, I am surprised at your lack of proper grammar and sentence structure. One would assume that Boston College would not be so proud of a graduate that doesn’t even know how to write.

  • http://waterindustry.com Larry

On a totally different topic, I haven’t been keeping up with developments at the BB Park … is the condo upland of piers 2-3 (next to the W hotel) a done deal — no chance of changing it to another use?

  • Gerry

@ Larry – STILL no plans for a swimming pool at BBP I can tell you that much.

  • Jazz

Did Nabeguy unintentionally “out” Gerry in this comment?

  • Gerry

@ Brooklyn Girl – Nothing is wrong with my grammar or sentence structure readers of this blog understand all of my comments that are written well enough.

@ jazz – Nabeguy has no idea of who I am.

@ DIBS we are not connected to Brownstoner we are BrownstoneCorp, LLC it is a corporation formed to put ownership of this house and other real estate investments here in Brooklyn we are not connected to Brownstoner.
