Lhota Makes Mayoral Bid Official

CBS NY reports that former MTA commish/Brooklyn Heights resident/BHB Ten 2012 member Joe Lhota has made his bid for NYC mayor official:

CBS NY: Lhota officially entered the race Thursday morning after filing documents with the Board of Elections and the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

He also launched his campaign website Joelhotaformayor.com.

Lhota, a Republican, served as Rudy Giuliani’s budget director, finance commissioner and deputy mayor for operations during Giuliani’s term as mayor from 1994 until 2001. Giuliani has said he’d endorse Lhota if he ran for mayor.

And naturally he took the news to The Twitter:

    And we all know how important to any candidate’s success is Giuliani’s endorsement.

  • Gerry

    @ Topham B – no politican did more for NYC than Rudy Giulliani his crackdown on quality of life crime transformed Brooklyn Heights back to the better and the rest of NYC.

    We are going to vote for Joe Lhota with the hope that he will keep the Giulinani reduction of crime going just like Mayor Bloomberg has done

    We do not want to go back to the 1980s when David Dinkins had been Mayor and criminals had our city at bay.

    An endorsement from Rudy Giulliani means alot to us.

    A Giuliani endorsement is worrisome. Not that it makes me think think Lhota is a bad guy, just that it could mean Giuliani might get appointed back into city hall. The thought of having that conniving nazi back in city hall is enough to make me ill.

    but Arch, there are some in this City who say yeah, he was a Fascist, but at least the trains ran on time, oh sorry, but he made us safe.

  • Topham Beauclerk

    @Arch Stanton

    Worrisome? I’d say laughable. Extraordinary to think that Lhota imagines his campaign would get a boost from a Giuliani endorsement. But he’s a Republican; he knows not what he does.

    WOW, what a bunch of left wing nutjobs. The “nazi” part was an especially nice touch Arch.

    Does Joe support condo housing in the ‘park’?

    The NY Times has a good profile on him today. I didn’t realize he was so volatile in nature. He comes across reasonably even-keeled in TV soundbytes but it sounds like he has a temperamental side.

    Dibs, agreed, these guys are total dingbat nutjobs. they are still whining about housing in the park and calling reasonable people nazis.

    Sorry, but I’m not understanding all the negativity re: Guiliani. I remember him as being responsible for New York’s positive turn-around (e.g. no more squeegee men terrorizing motorists). Prior to that, it was a Dem Party hack at the helm — which I’m afraid we are dangerously close to regressing towards.

    You folks do know that the “Arch Stanton” character is an alter ego of another poster here, created expressly mouth off and stir things up. Right?

    And those of you who heartily approve of Mayor Bloomberg (I have mixed feelings, to be sure) certainly remember that he explored running as a Dem, but didn’t care for the party machinery. Right?

  • Wiley E.

    k-stuart. Are you wearing panties, like Marv Albert?

  • Gerry

    It looks like y’all are kicking Arch Stanton around rather than Gerry today?

    As screwball as Stantons Nazi remark is lets remember he may keep his opinion.

    This guy Joe Lhota will be an excellent mayor.

    All I hear about Chrstine Quinn is her sexual orientation: Ms. Quinn = Lesibian. We feel that Quinn needs more of a platform to become our next mayor that being a lesbian will no get her elected.

    Oh David, please don’t do me like that :)

    Wiley E, I think you hit the nail on the head.

  • Topham Beauclerk

    @DIBS

    And what are you, a right-wing nutjob, aka a tea-bagger?

  • David on Middagh

    This thread made me go back to the original JibJab “This Land” vid from the 2004 election.

    Arch, I shutter to think about it. Try not to picture it. Eww.
