Once again, there are no planned diversions that will directly affect service at any local subway station this weekend. There are some service changes that will affect travel to or from Brooklyn beyond the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center and Franklin Avenue stations on the 2, 3 and 4 lines, and travel into Manhattan past Canal Street on the A and C trains; for details check MTA Info or the Weekender. There are also no planned service changes affecting local stations during the New Year’s week, except that Q trains will replace the N to and from Court Street (the N usually replaces the R during the early morning hours) from 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, January 2-4. R trains will be running normally during their normal hours (5:00 a.m. to midnight). You can change to or from the Q in Manhattan at Canal street, or in Brooklyn at Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center.
As always, on New Year’s Eve from 10:00 to midnight you won’t be able to exit at the Times Square station (!, 2, 3, or R trains; shuttle from Grand Central), though you may take the underground passage from there to the A/C station at 8th Avenue and 42nd street, and exit there.
