Hey, folks, the predicted high temperature Saturday, July 7, is 100 degrees! Sunday will cool down to a relatively balmy 92. So, if you’re not escaping to the beach or country, you’re probably looking for a way to stay cool right here in America’s First Suburb. You could just stay home and watch the Mets play the Cubs on TV (Watch the Yanks? I’m not going there) or invite friends over for bridge.
But if you’re a music fan and don’t mind taking a short walk, the air conditioned Bargemusic, moored to the Fulton Ferry Pier at the foot of Old Fulton Street, has a full lineup of concerts. Friday, July 6, starting at 8, there’s a performance of works by modern composers John Cage, Earl Brown, Morton Feldman and Christian Wolff. Saturday evening, also at 8 is a “Masterworks” concert with music by Beethoven, Copland, and Franck. There’s another “Masterworks” Sunday afternoon starting at 2, featuring works of Debussy, Franck, and Chausson. Ticket prices and reservation information are here. As always, there’s a free “Music in Motion” concert, meant for the whole family, Saturday afternoon starting at 3. Video and more text after the jump.
Just as last weekend, Brooklyn Heights Cinema will be showing Moonrise Kingdom and Safety Not Guaranteed. The showtimes are here. And, there’s the brand new pool.
Meanwhile, get into the sizzling spirit with Buster Poindexter (video above).
