At yesterday’s meeting at St. Francis College, Community Board 2 decided to support the proposed “Skyscraper” Historic District.
The Brooklyn Paper: At its monthly meeting, Community Board 2 voted 16–10 in favor of the new district, which would designate certain towers on Livingston, Court and Montague streets as worthy of historic preservation. The vote came capped a contentious meeting where many property owners complained that renovation or repairs in their buildings would end up costing more due to requirements inside landmark districts.
Th Brooklyn Heights Association supported the designation. BHA President Jane McGroarty argued that “the costs associated with landmarking are over-inflated.” The proposal now goes to the City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, which will vote on it at a meeting at its offices at One Chambers Street, Manhattan, on Tuesday, December 14 at 9:30 a.m.
