Catherine Brophy interior designer and publisher of fengshuidetective.com talks about her move to Brooklyn Heights in today's New York Times:
New York Times: The Hunt…: “My vision of my fireplace completely evaporated,” Ms. Brophy said. But she found herself liking Brooklyn Heights. The neighborhood and the apartment “kind of solidified for me” the sort of place that would make her happy, she said.
A friend passed along the name of the agent who had found her hairdresser an apartment in Brooklyn. Ms. Brophy called, and learned that a one-bedroom had just become available on Monroe Place.
The building was clean and quiet. Her loupan showed that the door faced southeast, another positive direction for her.
The apartment, renting for a bit less than $2,000, had endless charm and “Old World details that very much appeal to me,” Ms. Brophy said. “It is definitely an older apartment, and there are plenty of things where you think, well, this could be redone. But it was totally fine and workable.”
