A parolee shoots his parole officer; a woman is robbed while taking a shower; and a French couple get into a wine-throwing match at Morton’s Steakhouse. It’s this week’s police blotter.
Robert Morales, a parolee from Hancock St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, shot his parole officer during an appointment on 4/15. After hearing his name called at the office on 333 Schermerhorn St., Morales approached the officer, 49-year-old Samuel Salters, and shot him point-blank in the shoulder with a 9mm Ruger while witnesses ran for cover. The weapon then jammed before Morales could get off another shot, and officers surrounded him within moments. Morales was taken into custody while Salters was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was expected to make a full recovery.
A burglary took place at 146 Montague St. sometime during 4/16. The victim stated that she left for work at 8 a.m. and locked her door, but when she returned that evening her door and window were open, and her wedding ring, laptop and carton of cigarettes were stolen.
A woman put down her purse to try on a coat while shopping at the Fulton St. Macy’s on the afternoon of 4/11. When she returned, her bag, a tan Coach number, had disappeared. The victim approached security, and though the place was canvassed, the bag was not found; the security camera that monitored that area was broken. Among the missing items were a credit card, two debit cards, an iPod and BlackBerry.
While standing on the SE corner of Fulton and Lawrence Sts. on 4/12, a woman was accosted by her ex-husband, who stole her bag containing court papers and ran off.
On the morning of 4/13, a woman returned to her locker at Planet Fitness to discover her lock gone, along with her Prada bag and coat. Video cameras were stationed at the entrance to the gym but not in the locker room; the perp and bag have not been found.
At 480 State St., a woman claimed she and her maid were the only ones at home the afternoon of 4/13. After the maid left, the woman was taking a shower when suddenly she heard her door slam. Upon leaving the bathroom, she discovered that two Apple laptops were missing. There was no sign of forced entry, and the victim believes the maid might not have locked the door.
L’amour was not on the menu at Morton’s Steakhouse on the night of 4/16; a French couple got into a drunken fight that ended when the wife threw a glass of wine at her husband’s face. The husband was taken to the hospital with facial lacerations and the wife was arrested.
