The Brooklyn Historical Society's website announces the following symposium, to be held at BHS (southwest corner of Pierrepont and Clinton) on Thursday, May 31, from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M.
"In collaboration with New York Historical Society and Weeksville Heritage Center , and accompanying the Slavery in New York: Brooklyn Stories exhibit, BHS will host the symposium, Who Owns Brooklyn ? From Farms to Brownstones . Moderated by historian, Craig S. Wilder, local historians will explore contemporary themes of gentrification, displacement, property-ownership and the networks of self-sufficiency that have developed as creative responses to neighborhood changes."
The symposium is open to the public and free.
