  • Stelle Fossil

Looks like signs of life at the long-vacant Loft store at the corner of Montague & Henry.

    Ear plugs

Or a white noise machine the kind in a therapists waiting room.

How an empty lotion store – Kiehl’s – can pay the rent when a butcher can’t is baffling.

    Around 1980, I think.

They are working in there. Any idea what’s coming in?

Ditto, the “Variety store” 100 feet or so East of it. Must be “owner-occupied.” Time to upzone those 3 blocks “in the public interest.”

  • Banet

While the prices are high at the “variety store“, it does serve a purpose. I have probably purchased something there about once every nine months for the last 25 years. Which is a lot more than I can say for 50% of the businesses on Montague Street.

Maybe, Kiehl’s will “do you a solid” come Father’s Day!

Agreed. You get old-fashioned service. I appreciate the ability to call out what I need the second I walk in the door & find out yes/no if they have it. Most home-goods/hardware stores these days, you can’t even find an employee to help, and even if you do, generally get a vague “head in that direction” to finish hunting around.
