Cadman Plaza Park Soccer – Pretty Mellow

Saturday morning, we checked out the controversial soccer players at Cadman Plaza Park. Overall the group of players, mostly men and over 30, seemed downright mellow. While they did take up most of the turf field, there didn’t seem to be much competition for using it. One family played frisbee on the turf while the game was being played. And the only casualty there seemed to be the little boy’s interest in frisbee — seems like he caught “futbol fever” after seeing a goal scored.

Sorry, getting someone knocked up and popping out a kid does not justify a sense of entitlement that you do not deserve. Your precious kid can play in the real grass which is not level and is too obstructed by trees for sports use. Clearly the turf was put down for active use not picnics with tea and biscuits. Regardless of how careful you think soccer players should be while kicking the ball (ridiculous!), any parent that has their kids playing in an active area like that should be reported for child endangerment. There’s a padded rubber mat playground with slides and child activities on Jay St but I’m sure the complexion of some of the other children might be too dark for these entitled snobs.

@Unentitled: The soccer i find annoying is during the week in the evenings when it’s obvious the players are in some sort of league. Here’s two official links and I don’t see anything about soccer. In fact they mention “playground”, “lawn”, and children playing.

Oh, and if the players are part of the community why do i see them taking the subway?

Then why are there no out-of-bounds lines or installed goals.
The grass area to the north of the monument was perfectly usable by soccer players during the construction period, so how is it now too uneven and obstructed by trees?

Neither does having a ball and a pair of cleats justify a sense of entitlement.
