I’ve walked past a few dozen of these shops — some daily, some weekly, some rarely or just once.

I’ve made a habit of looking in the window as I pass to see how many customers they have.

In all my dozens and dozens of observations I’ve only once — ever — seen a customer inside ANY of these shops.

How do they pay rent???? How can the afford to have someone sitting there all day and well into the evening? I can’t fathom it.

They may not be able to enforce what people do once they buy the building but they can decide who to sell to and simply skip over any buyer who has an ideology objectionable to them — which, apparently includes the NYC DOE. (Which is patently absurd of course.)

Does anyone know which vendor (Montague across from key foods, vendor near St. Anns, and the ones on Atlantic Ave) are the most reasonably priced?

    DUMBO parents NOT Dumbo parents.

The more industrious illegal aliens are doing better than others driving scooters all over New York City to deliver 420. Maybe the shop delivers?

Some (many?) are undoubtedly fronts for money laundering. In a time when retail vacancies are through the roof, I’m sure plenty of small landlords are comfortable asking no questions when their tenant pays the rent in cash each month. The city keeps promising to step up enforcement of the law already on the books to fine landlords directly for their illegal pot shop tenants. That’d help, if it happens.

I will say that many of the shops in the touristy parts of Manhattan are full of customers (gawking, if not paying). We’ve truly become New Amsterdam.

We went to the ones in front of Key Foods and St. Ann’s – they are both the same vendor. $100 for 6′ tree at either.

The licensed cannabis shops seem to be doing a very good business. Always pretty crowded.

Happy Days space has a new tenant coming in. They’ll be serving alcohol. Sounds promising :)
