Montague Street Bagels Closed by DOH

UPDATE: your correspondent’s ever alert wife reports that Montague Street Bagels is back in business. Evidently they cleaned up their act.

Your correspondent’s wife went shopping this afternoon, and was surprised to see this sign in the window of Montague Street Bagels, 108 Montague Street (between Hicks and Henry), our favorite source of freshly made bagels (though proximity may have something to do with it). We don’t know the “Why?” but will update you as soon as more info is available.

62 points on their inspection, main one i can see is food contact surfaces not being cleaned appropriately

I stopped going there over a year ago. One, when masking was more prominent, none of the workers were wearing any, but more to the point, saw huge bugs walking around the back where you ordered.

I voted with my feet a couple years ago. Quality of the bagels went down, and the store didn’t look like it was being kept up. Disappointed not to support my “local” but there are several much better places on Court St.
