One less pool for downtown Brooklyn as crummy as the EAC pool is, it had been an option.

A state of the art Aquatic Center like Asphalt Green near Gracie Mansion is greatly needed in downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Bridge Park, a 50 meter pool open 530am to 11pm would be a great asset to our neighborhood.

    Will Marijuana be sold here?

  • FatFreddy’sCatheter

I don’t know if I should say something anti-bike in an era of climate change, but for the sake of argument let’s assume that the little trailer belongs to Cruella de Vil, who uses it to kidnap neighborhood pets and transport them to her Red Hook fur coat factory. Hypothetically, one could contact the Private, Non-Municipal owner of that scaffolding to which said puppy-abduction device had been Unauthorizedly affixed, to suggest a severance.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer; I am a catheter.

    No.

  • disqus_n3NxchRudM

would also love to know this!

Does anyone happen to know what happened with the auction of Bossert? It was supposed to happen in November, and I haven’t seen or heard anything.

  • Banet

There already is one in Downtown Brooklyn. Chelsea Piers has a facility near BAM with a lovely, new pool.

  • Banet

It’s all gone as of Noon today, Friday the 6th.

  • AEB

    Nonsensical, bogus analogy.

  • Effective Presenter

That is not an Aquatic Center not a 50 meter oympic size pool no diving tank Ft. Green pool is just another mediocre option like EAC, Marriott, the YMCA at Court and Atlantic, YMCA on 3rd Ave.

Downtown Brooklyn needs an Aquatic Center 530am to 11pm.

Yes, one of those silly analogies used by people who think that everyone else in a neighborhood has to enjoy listening to their noises and smelling their stenches and should adapt themselves to their self-absorbed inconsideration. Cities do not have to be filthy, noisy, or noxious. They actually do have to be civilized if they’re to survive.

On Saturday 7th, it looks like the person might be trying to return.

Uh, Books Are Magic just opened recently. Impossible for anyone to drive past “for decades.”

  • Bk heights

Same here. I reached out to them and never received a response.

  • Eddyde

LOL, That on flew right over your head, didn’t it?

  • nomcebo manzini

Betcha it WILL… Maybe not by whoever wins this charade of a bid – even assuming a choice is made on the merits of the few who apply rather than how much they donated to the Adams campaign.

Sure, let’s create an alternative to a generally well-policed BBP that sells beer & maybe margaritas …. and just hope that Cadman remains “family friendly.” A functioning brothel on Montague, headshops now and Cannabis shops soon. Welcome to a NYC version of Sicily. Bleeping Adams makes the suburbs look like the sensible choice more and more, day after day.

  • MaggieO

The sign on the old store says it is closing 1/17 and not everything is on sale (specifically not the legos, possibly other exceptions)

  • Banet

I guess they moved the close date and indeed, I discovered Lego is excluded from the sale. So is vinyl I think.

They’re selling a lot of books in certain categories… the cookbooks are over 60% gone.

  • aeshtron

Cannabis shops have been operating in Brooklyn Heights for many years. Drugs, sex and rock-n-roll are always available for purchase here and everywhere else including Greenwich CT, Doha Qatar and Lloyd Harbor NY. Sales of such goods and services have become somewhat more out in the open in NYC the past few years. The suburbs just have bigger hedges ; )

Back in the gritty ’70s, when the Talent ate freezer-burned Fudgesicles! Or maybe that’s grape.

Thank you for uploading this shot — if nothing else, it helps keep the blog pretty Cybill.

Contacted open squash who is taking over the squash courts. They said the gym and pool will be managed separately- tbd but the whole place will close for one year for renovations starting in June.

They’re starting a FB group for current EAC members to answer questions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/555337709416660/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF

  • HenryLoL

    Oh, please.

  • HenryLoL

The owner of Sam’s next door would make a FORTUNE if he ever sold…

  • B.

I think the answer is No, he’s not okay; because if he were okay he’d be getting in touch with an array of city agencies and private charities that provide housing and jobs for functional homeless people.
