Tried to visit the new ice cream shop on Henry and Orange Saturday night after Inges Bar. Too bad it closed at 9pm. ON A SATURDAY NIGHT?! With those hours I will never be able to enjoy some after dinner icecream.

Real estate brochure for “The Remsen,” 70 Remsen Street. Here’s the image, with the reasons to rent in the reply:

According to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, a gunpoint robbery happened in Cadman Plaza Park last night at about 10:45pm. To me, the video in the wabcradio link above, which appears to be filmed during the day near pier 5, seems unrelated.

Just wait until the Supreme Court decides NYS Rifle and Pistol Association -v- Bruen…

  • CassieVonMontague

That’s a nice Glock. How much does one of those cost? I think I might need one when SCOTUS strikes down all of NYCs gun laws.

I’m really enjoying the new Olive and Garlic deli on Montague. It’s clean, they’re pleasant, and they have a lot of nice options. And I’m so happy they’re open till midnight!

The link to John Catsimatidis’s radio station says the police response was Tuesday 10:45pm, too. But they link to an instagram post from “14 hours ago” which would’ve been on Tuesday 10:30pm. And the instagram post says that the incident in the video occured on Monday.

Hard for a new business to get the staff for long hours.

I’ll bet anything that the 4 luxury apts. above it set that limit, because – whatever the rent – a good night’s sleep matters more … and their apartments would be less valuable if the tenant was allowed to maximize its income. As Jane said, “A 9 PM closing on a warm-to-hot Sat. night makes no sense.” (Plus – with tips, it’s a GREAT summer job, so I doubt that staffing has anything to do with the hours.)

14 5-star reviews on Google, including this one that sure sounds for real:

“10/10 so happy :) Got a strawberry banana smoothie and they stayed past closing to make it. It is delicious! Will be back.”

I quote it, because their chosen name might very well mislead an average potential customer.

Does anyone remember when we will find out about the location for the July 4th fireworks?

  • SbMC11201

When will we find out the location of the July 4th fireworks ?

  • fultonferryres

    Uptown again this year

  • meschwar

A quick google search gave me this:

This year’s revelry will launch more than 48,000 shells and effects from five barges positioned between E. 23rd and E. 42nd Streets on the East River with prime viewing from three boroughs in New York City.

Two separate incidents. The gunpoint robbery posted to Reddit and Instagram on Monday actually took place on Saturday around 8pm in Brooklyn Bridge Park. That is why Pier 2 was “frozen” again, just like it was on Memorial Day when teenagers started throwing plastic bottles of frozen water at the police.

  • CassieVonMontague

    WABC should hire you.

  • gc

Pretty sure I read that it’s further up the East River again this year.

When do we find out where the 7/4 fireworks will be?

  • AEB

Do you(se) mean to say that there are, actually, Brooklyn Heights residents awake and out at 9:00 PM Saturday or no? Hard to imagine!

  • Cranberry Beret

Starbucks on Montague has been closed repeatedly recently because of staffing shortages. I agree 100% with the poster above that a new biz in this labor market is going to have a hard time hiring. Even Inga’s is looking for staff.

Tip: One query here usually does the trick.

  • Andrew Porter

If you post the same question three times, under different names, don’t expect three different answers (As Jorale-man noted)!

Indeed, the SCOTUS lifting the draconian carry laws of NYS, could help push back coming wave of street crime. It is an easy choice to rob someone at gunpoint when you know there is almost zero chance your victim is unarmed, not so much if they might shoot back!

Maybe. Or bot-attracting techniques? Odd that you can’t click on this person’s profile.

Great write up on a new design store that opened on Atlantic / Boerum Hill by the folks behind General Assembly (they do a ton of interior + architectural work in BKH). Will be available for targeted, small scale consults on reno projects as well — really interesting concept: https://www.brownstoner.com/brooklyn-life/assembly-line-boerum-hill-home-decor-store-373-atlantic-avenue-wallpaper-furniture/
