I think It’s been there for over a year, they just changed names.

  • KDHicks

Has it always been a dispensary? Thought that was new!

  • KDHicks

    Nice!!!

Yes. It was Columbia Care before. I think with the name change comes a reformatting so it’s more retail vs pharmacy-style.

  • KDHicks

Ah got it. Had no idea…thanks for clarifying, to your point, sounds like it will be more public facing now. Interesting!

  • MaggieO

dang, hope not. that was my closest pharmacy since the rite-aid closed. i’d then have to walk another whole block to get to the duane reade on court!

  • meschwar

Yes, hopefully it’s not true. My source is not very reliable, which is why I looked for confirmation.

CCHWF is in the process of rebranding their retail locations as “Cannabist”. The owner/operator of 44 Court Street is still CCHWF which has been in that location since 2019. NYS laws are evolving, thus the new displays and products such as flowers. CCHWF is in the process of buying 740,000 sq/ft of greenhouse space from Van De Wetering at 5784 Sound Ave in Riverhead NY. 5784 Sound Ave is less than four miles east of Briermere Farms. I’m drooling thinking about touring a Cannabis farm, sampling their products on-site and then moving onto some delicious Briermere pie : )

And sadly, even CDC undermines their own guidance output by accepting guidance input from major industries who would like to get back to “business as usual” before a global pandemic that has claimed the lives of nearly a million people has been adequately addressed. Greatest country on earth—and there’s a reason anti-mask, anti-mandate activists wave national flags during their demonstrations. (Incidentally, they also have ties to white supremacist groups, hooray!)

But by all means, if someone refuses to do something slightly inconvenient just to keep the people around them safe, we’d better mind our business and shut up about it, right “Leave Everyone Else Alone” and “BH Mike”?

  • http://www.yotamzohar.com StudioBrooklyn

    Die alone, intubated. 👍

  • BH Mike

That’s exactly right. If you’re vaccinated and wearing a mask why do you care what other people do? You’ve done everything you can to protect yourself when out. So mind your business and shut up. Mask crybabies.

  • meschwar

It’s true. There’s a sign on the door.

  • http://www.yotamzohar.com StudioBrooklyn

BH Mike, you’re demonstrating a basic misunderstanding about the purpose of vaccines and masking.

Vaccines, for the most part in the case of Covid, decrease the likelihood that the vaccinated person will suffer symptoms from the virus.

Masks do exponentially more to prevent the wearer from unknowingly transmitting disease than they do to protect the wearer from others’ transmissions. (https://physics.aps.org/articles/v14/s155)

I noticed that you’re also using angry words. People do this when they’re afraid or confused. I hope that learning more about how masks and vaccines work to stop the transmission of deadly disease will help you to feel good about being part of a community; one that might have a future, if everyone works together.

  • BH Mike

If you’re vaccinated then you have protection and don’t need a mask. I’ve protected myself by getting vaccinated. I could care less if anyone get COVID by me not wearing a mask. We’ve protected ourselves by getting vaccinated. Masks do nothing. So again, mind your business and shut up.

  • http://www.yotamzohar.com StudioBrooklyn

So, BH Mike, repeating your incorrect misapprehension of how masks work doesn’t make it any less incorrect.

If you’re vaccinated, you can still get and transmit Covid, even if the vaccine is making it so you don’t realize you have Covid. That’s why you wear a mask (and yes, they do work; see the link in my previous comment, plus the mountain of other evidence demonstrating that masks work to diminish the fluid range of aerosols). It’s to protect other people. Remember other people?

And again, I see you’re using angry words. Why so angry? You should be happy that you have this opportunity to be a better neighbor and fellow citizen. Isn’t it great to do good things for other people? Remember other people?

  • BH Mike

How’s the stool taste inside of the face diaper you wear all day? That’s stupid logic. If your vaccinated than you don’t need a mask. The mask means nothing if you’re vaccinated. If you can’t understand the logic then I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t care if other people get Covid.

  • http://www.yotamzohar.com StudioBrooklyn

Repeating incorrect statements isn’t logic, nor is it an argument against scientific evidence.

“I don’t care if other people get Covid” is a really screwed up thing to say, but it does explain the attitude behind your other statements pretty well.

  • Rick

It sounds like you’re not aware of the danger of developing mutations of Covid which could not only be much deadlier, but could extend the pandemic for many more years.

Not wearing masks for just a few more months (while transmission remains high) will allow mild or even symptomless cases of Covid to be passed from person to person, with the resulting ever-increasing odds of a dangerous mutation being created.

Do you really want all this to keep going on for years?

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

Yes, but only buildings 6 stories and higher are required to have quinquennial inspections, by a licensed engineer.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

My point is, if the official mask mandate is lifted, then it is up to the individual if they want to wear a mask or not. It may make you feel better to continue to wear a mask in public but to expect everyone else to share your same views is kind of ridiculous. If you feel so strongly about the matter, you’d do better to direct your anger at Hochul et al, not random people on the street.
Personally I have had COVID, am triple vaccinated and test twice a week, So I no longer wear a mask unless required.

People who can’t or won’t experience their own vulnerability are really triggered by those who can and do. You know–projection: hating in others what you’ve judged yourself harshly for feeling.

Wow, has scaffolding gone up on 130 Clinton now? Is it just me or is every building in Brooklyn Heights getting its Local Law Inspection in 2021 and 2022? Is there some sort of cycling of this that makes it all happen right now? Maybe it’s just the entirety of the Saint George Hotel being shrouded in Local Law 11 scaffolding that makes me think this.

  • Lucky Larry

    Great way of putting it.

  • BH Mike

The Brooklyn Heights Blog likes to delete posts or mark as “spam” when things are stated that don’t fit its narrative or don’t agree with. Happens all the time on this board.

  • Mike Suko

I think you’re missing a few things here – and that from someone IRATE when one of my too long posts was deleted. Neither Mr. Scales nor the webmaster – if s/he even exists – is the slightest bit hands-on…. I’d be surprised if Mr. Scales WOULD go in for “thought control,” but I’ll admit that’s mostly instinct.

But Disq.us uses an algorithm, I’m certain, that AUTO-DELETES things that many down-vote.

Yes, you could take that as proof that “diversity” of thought is unwelcome here, but you do better to accept that since the founder of the BHB passed away, the site has been “in hospice care.”

This blog has VERY limited readership – I’d be shocked if as many as 100 “unique visitors” patronized it in an average month. Given that, it’s possible that the algorithm I referred to is as crude as “3 strikes [down votes] and you’re out!”
