Inga’s Bar is picking up steam. This is a bar/restaurant replacing Jack the Horse Tavern at 66 Hicks Street. The brown paper covering has been removed in the front room at the corner and replaced with a more translucent covering. Also, they now have a page on social stating their opening in November 2021. It’s now December, so it sounds like things are close. See below:

Their website, http://www.ingasbar.com/, is not up and running yet.

Here’s Court Street and Atlantic in a 1950’s photo by Max Henry Hubacher:

It appears they bricked over the facade of the Rite Aid building on the corner and left the portico intact. It wasn’t really an improvement, even taking into account the 1970’s decay seen here.

I walked by there yesterday en route to Trader Joe’s, and only part of the windows are blocked up.

The signage for Jack the Horse Tavern has now been removed.

Yes, I’m speaking more about the materials on the facade. It’s a modern brick rather than the old terra cotta or whatever it was underneath.

Just noticed graffiti on the back of 160 Columbia Heights, next to the Promenade. It says, “Kill Cops.” Reported it to 311.

Meanwhile, there are still flowers blooming everywhere. There are still roses blooming in the garden next to the Remsen Street entrance to the Promenade!
