Here’s the corner of Joralemon Street and Garden Place, March 14, 1905:

And here’s a then/now comparison. Nothing has changed, except they don’t seem to use horses and wagons any more (click on both to enlarge):

Expressing gratitude for Claude and all he’s done to keep this blog going. Thank you, Claude! Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I always admire that house as I walk by. Good to see it in such preserved condition (albeit now shutter-less, and horse-less).

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I’m always fascinated by these side by side comparisons. Apparently, progress included widening of the sidewalk but the interesting thing to me is the “new” added 2nd floor window on the Garden Place side. I also walk by it just about every day, as we live on Hicks St, just around the corner. Great building. Thanks.

I second the gratitude for Claude, so very thankful for him and this blog!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Claude. Both he and John (Homer Fink) were an incredible team back in the day. Keeping it going is truly a valuable resource for the Brooklyn Heights community.

    Hear, hear! Thank you Claude!

I was just walking on Henry and Atlantic when I heard that “whistling” sound again. It must be coming from 347 Henry. A few weeks ago, I spoke to someone who moved into that building over the summer. I asked him if he knew about it and he said yes, but he didn’t find out until after he moved in. He was told by management that they’re working on it.

There was a fire only a few minutes ago at Tillary and Cadman Plaza West. (The cavalry is still there.) Hopefully nobody hurt. Anybody have info?

Did anyone else hear the bizarre noise around 11pm last night? Near the promenade area, near Clark I’m guessing.
It sounded like gunfire coming from a loud car.
